Modifications & enforcement

When an order needs another look.

Life may change after a family law case ends, or an existing order may not be followed. Roberts & Reiter handles modification of final judgments and contempt and enforcement matters. Reviewing the actual order is an important first step.

Separate a changed situation from a compliance problem

A request to change an order and a request to enforce it ask different questions. Explain what the order says, what has happened since it was entered and what you need addressed. An attorney can evaluate the available approach and any timing concerns.

How we can help

  • Review of existing family law judgments and orders
  • Requests to modify parenting or financial arrangements
  • Enforcement of obligations in final judgments
  • Contempt issues related to noncompliance

Preparing for a consultation

You do not need to send records to get in touch. For a consultation, it may help to have:

  • The complete order or final judgment
  • A dated record of relevant events or payments
  • Prior filings and any upcoming hearing information

Keep sensitive documents out of the website form. Ask the office what to bring and how to share it securely. If you have a court date or response deadline, call the office rather than relying on an online message.

Does a change in circumstances automatically change an order?

Do not assume an existing obligation has ended or changed. Speak with an attorney about what steps, if any, are available. Bring the actual documents so advice can be based on their terms.
